I talked to a famly member today and she says she finally talked to alex last night on the phone and he is only just now safe. He got out finally on Sunday (sep. 4). (I have no idea if the Molly's sighting was true because he may have been at his house the whole time; I don't know if he walked around N.O. at some point or what.)

I've stayed out of this thread until now - just read it regularly and kept myself up to date. One more concerned voice from across the globe with nothing positive to actually report was the last thing anyone needed. Now that Alex is confirmed as safe and well I just want to express my relief that he's o.k.
I also want to just say that my heart goes out to all those 1000's of people who have lost everything in this terrible ordeal. It is unimaginable. I wish there was something I could do to help, but being 1000's of miles away all I can do is wish everyone well and send a little money to the Red Cross.

Alex Chilton is OKAY!
That is confirmed. I heard that from Terry Manning, Alex's old Memphis friend from the early Big Star days and legendary producer. It's solid information. |

| hi everyone. on the television today, they said alex chilton is safe and staying at a hotel in houston, texas. this is a great relief and i'm glad he's alright. they didn't mention his wife, though i'd imagine she's with alex. they waited to the last, but no one could've predicted the intensity of those floods. hugs, laura |
