Fresh off the Bob Mould/Spiral Stairs tour, Jon flies to Minneapolis for two sold-out shows at The Olde Town Creamery in Maple Lake, MN on 10.23 and 10.24.
Also, find a link to Driven By Boredom’s blog and excellent photos from the recent Eugene Mirman Comedy Festival in Brooklyn, NY which Jon performed at here.
“Posies front man Jon Auer gave the crowd a short musical break which was not without humor as he asked a girl in the front row to take a picture of him on stage so he could prove to his mom that he did a show with Eugene Mirman.”
Due to the abrupt departure of bassist Jason Narducy from the Bob Mould/Spiral Stairs tour Jon is currently on (Jason’s wife was about to give birth), Jon will now be playing bass with Bob and drummer extraordinaire Jon Wurster for the last two shows of the “Life and Times” tour. Jon has done his best to learn 18 songs in the last 40 hours (songs from every era of Mould’s career btw) and is thrilled to be confirmed for these dates:
10/19 Los Angeles, CA @ The Troubadour
10/20 San Diego (Solana Beach), CA @ The Belly Up
Jon will still be playing with Spiral Stairs both nights as well.
(P.S. Jason Narducy made it home one hour before the birth of his daughter…Congratulations!)
Jon has a short run playing as part of Spiral Stairs’ band in support of his upcoming Matador release “The Real Feel”, which Jon also mixed and helped produce. Live he will recreate many of the sonic bits on the record.

Jon has played solo in Atlanta before (back in 2006 w/ Mark Burgess of Chameleons UK fame – YouTube video here), but Athens and Birmingham are a first.
Here is what may possibly be the only chance to see Jon solo in Phoenix, AZ…ever! It’s just a part of the world/country he doesn’t get to that often. If you’re around, come see him play at The Last Exit on Friday, 9/25/09. (OK, technically it’s in Tempe, but hey…)

Scott Miller of The Loud Family and Game Theory has some nice things to say about Jon, “Conversations” and “Lady Sweet” here:
Jon Auer didn’t take a day off from crafting great music in the mid-2000s; his break-out Big Star moment (read on) only barely surpasses this Posies return to form, whose unhurried stroll up perilous baroque scales and back to meaty rock are an immense favorite of everyone in my household. I must have listened to this song a hundred times by now and it never gets old.
Last week in Brooklyn, the Posies performed on the inaugural episode of Rabid in the Kennel, a new radio series hosted by Jack Rabid (of the Big Takeover on Break Thru Radio.
You can view a slideshow of photos from the session (shot by Giuliana Ciampoli) here or on Flickr.
Jon will once again be playing solo opening for Fountains of Wayne, this time in the Midwest US.

7/8 Madison, WI – High Noon Saloon
